Hi Everyone! I was wondering if anyone has done the NJ Triathlon recently and could tell me what
the rule was on using wetsuits. I see that the average water temps for race day are in the high 70s,
but in the pictures I see people in wetsuits. Any info??

NJ Triathlon
Last year the race was wet suit legal. With the winter we are having, I would bet that the race will be wet suit legal again this yr, but it is a race day decision. Last year it was known about an hr before the race started.
NJ Triathlon
Definately a race day decision and in the past it has leaned towards being non wetsuit legal for awards and placing.

I have done the Oly distance since it started in 2006 and haven't worn a wetsuit in any of them. I think it ends up being a race-day decision, where if the water temp is above a certain temp (maybe 80, I forget), then wetsuits aren't allowed at all. If the temp is between 76 and 80 (or something like that), then wetsuits are allowed, but you aren't eligible for AG awards, etc. I'm a pokey swimmer (1.5K in 33ish minutes), but never had a problem with being cold. Hope this helps, Scott
