Black Bear Triathlon Switches to Olympic Distance

Same hills.
Same challenge.
Same beautiful course.
New distance!

This years Black Bear Triathlon will host Sprint and OLYMPIC Distances for 2010. We will no longer be offering a half iron distance.

Why the Switch? Because you asked for it.

Each year we are inundated with requests to add an Olympic Distance. The sheer volume of requests for this distance at Black Bear made us consider ways to make it happen. However, we do not want to have three distances run concurrently. This is just not feasible for many reasons.

Therefore we will continue to offer the Sprint but the half will be replaced by an Olympic Distance. Although this race sells out each year it is apparent that the Olympic Distance would be even more popular than the half iron.

While we hate to get rid of the half iron distance we believe that the challenging course, magnificent scenery and central location will make the Black Bear OLYMPIC one of the regions' premiere races like Columbia and Philadelphia.
