I am writing this in thank you to all of those who recently attended the Lake Placid Ironman event.  Growing up I have been staring at a poster my parents brought back from Hawii with the title on it called "Ironman"  I have always wanted to compete in this race and finally dreams have come true.  All the training aside one always asks the questions "How does one do something for that long of time?"  Hours worth of racing and you can certainly answer that question.  Nothing is possible without the help of others.  We live in a tough world and at the end of the day we ask ourselves if we hav

Jerseyman

Those who are interested next year in a great half iron or sprint I might suggest the Jerseyman, in Clinton New Jersey.  The race was small but had all of the perks.  Great 72 degree swim, challenging bike, and an even more challenging run.  The reason for this post is not the race but a thank you to Rich for all of the encouragement I received throughout the race.  Why be part of the Philadelphia Tri Club?  At transition in the early AM I was introduced to a fellow PTC member (Rich) gaining all the confidence one would ever need.  Never having met Rich one would think it is just another co

IT Band Injury

Hi!  I am currently training for Ironman Lake Placid and certainly need all the help I can get.  I started running last week and I got about 6 minutes into a usual 50 minute run nothing to hard when a sharp pain took over my knee.  Symptoms have lead me to beleive I have an IT Band issue going on.  I was wondering if anyone could offer some advice on how to treat this quickly?  Is it even possible?  Are there any sports I can still participate in.  Biking does not seem to bother it nor does the swimming however the running is a no go.  Help!!!  Please?
